Pleasant Hill is nestled in between Walnut Creek, Concord and Martinez. It’s rated one of the best places to live in California, offering a dense suburban feel with highly rated public schools. Prior to 2000, Pleasant Hill did not have a true downtown. The new downtown opened with redevelopment of the area, privately owned. The top employer is the Mount Diablo Unified School District, followed by the Contra Costa County Fire protection. Most notably, the Parks and Recreation District offer numerous parks, outdoor open space and activities for all ages.
